Kitchen Storage, Vintage Jar Style

Welcome back!

A couple years ago, a friend was preparing to sell their house.  Going through thirty years of raising a family (and then helping raise their grandchildren) really takes a while!  I was helping her with a lot of different things, including picking out wall colors and color schemes to sell the house.  Along the way, she gave me a couple antique apple crates full of canning jars.  I love canning so I was so happy to get them.  However, there were so many, I didn’t know what to do with them all!

I love the look of canning jars.  Like the ones above from a local Barnhouse sale…

How cute are those?  Of course I didn’t have the piece of mind to buy them all. (*sigh*)

Canning jars = inexpensive (and cute) storage.

Canning Jar Storage

So, what the heck did I do with all the jars I DO have?  I decided to use them for storage in the kitchen of course!  I use them in the kitchen, on the countertop for pastas and snacks.  I also use them for storing smaller quantities in my baking pantry for cornmeal, starches and specialty sugars.

I even found some lids I could use for them all.  I was a little concerned about losing directions for pastas and such, so I got some erasable labels and marked any instructions from the package on top of the lid.   It’s the ultimate green product, because you can use it over and over!

What’s your favorite kitchen storage product?
