Recently, my mother in law came to visit. We had a wonderful time, and made many endearing memories. One of the things we both love to do is cook (and eat). One morning, I took her to one of my favorite places on earth - a local kitchen supply store. Oh bliss!
We did a bit of shopping there, and picked up a couple small things. Then, I happened across the back section, with all the cookbooks. I happened to notice one I had considered buying in the past. This time, it was 50% off! Oh lord, I just love a good bargain! So, I took it home, and the baking has commenced ever since!
The first thing I tried was pumpkin bread. It was divine! Moist and tender crumb, with a spicy aroma that paired beautifully with an afternoon cup of coffee.
Today, I made cinnamon bread. Why? I couldn't bear paying almost $5 for a loaf of bread I could make at home. Only I hadn't ever made it before. So, today I took out the mixer and whipped up a loaf. It took some time, but the process was simple. Measure (and in this case, weigh), mix, rise, and bake. If you do it right, it's sheer joy!
So, today I made this cinnamon bread (sans currants, as I didn't have any around). It was delish, and now my house smells like cinnamon heaven. Viva la fall baking!
